Absolutely great dinning experience in Istanbul. A friend of mine recommended this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. We had the sushi…it was great. We had 4 appetizers…they were great. We had 5 entrees…every single one was great. That’s without mentioning the excellent ambiance, service and view. Please do yourself a favor and visit this beautiful gem.

Amazing Sea Bass w/ miso and view. Nice vibe in the restaurant. Bad and slow service, waited 45min standing for my booked table. Also charged 80 lira p.p for the table and added 10% service fee, less nice for paying for making up the table and serve bread(?)

Absolutely amazing. The restaurant is located on top of the hill with breathtaking views of Istanbul. There’s a wide variety of plates in the menu ranging from typical cuisine to sushi. We ordered the latter and were very pleased with everything. Among our choices we decided to have: salmon and sea bass sashimi, duck spring roll, foie gras with teriyaki sauce, nigiri bonbons (5 piece-set), tuna volcano roll, lava toro roll, spicy shake temaki and for desserts we chose crunchy chocolate mousse, and sunset San Sebastián cheesecake. I highly suggest to reserve for the after party in the same location if you are there on the weekend. Definitely worth it.

The view and the food is just amazing. Kinda pricey, even for European and American standard but totally worth it. Can’t wait to go back next time I am in Istanbul.

We made a reservation for this restaurant and we were really excited to enjoy a meal with a great view. However, upon arriving the waitress decided we will set in a corner table away from the view behind the trees at the end of the restaurant in a very small corner next to the service table, were the waitress is organizing spoons and forks talked to his colleague and being very loud, while almost all the other tables are completely empty, we talked to the waitress but we reckon we were given this bad table based on our looks and ethnicity. The food toke forever to arrive and it was not as expected from a Luxary restaurant which basically ruined the whole experience.

One of the best located restaurants in Istanbul overviewing the Turkish sea.The scene is really catching specialty at sunset 🌅. We booked one day before amd got us a nice table.The welcoming was good from the door and we didn’t have to wait a lot.We had to wait until the waiter decided to come and take our order.The food tasted really good however the only “main” problem was small swiss portion.Pricing was little bit overrated comparing to other dining’s around.

Great location, view and ambiance. Nice cocktails. However, food quality and taste is less than modest. For the exaggerated prices, in Istanbul, they have I expected a much better food .. worst meat I have ever eaten. Dry and tasteless.

Great service and cuisine as always. Starting form the entrance you feel that you will be happy at the end of your visit. A little bit overpriced but at least the total experience makes you feel satisfied. View, the view 😍, it is one of the best views in Istanbul. They have also a thick wine menu.

Service is good but not exceptional (a bit loud and sloppy) as is expected from a restaurant of this calibre. Food does not disappoint. The view is spectacular. Sushi is good and my miso fermented cod was exceotional. Clientele is a funny mix. Go in warm summer nights, take a drink at the bar and don’t forget to make a reservation for a table with a view.

We called to make a reservation. We were told that men are not allowed to wear shorts. I could MAYBE understand saying no basketball shorts or swat shorts, but no. They said no shorts at all. Its August. Who is wearing long pants?! Not to mention, we traveled from the US so my husband didnt bother to pack long pants BECAUSE ITS THE HOTTEST MONTH OF THE YEAR. We cancelled our reservation. Its their loss as were great tippers. 💁‍♀️ Based on the reviews and ridiculous dress code, this seems like a place that judges you based on your appearance and offers service accordingly. Again, its their loss, not ours. There are plenty of other places with better food and better prices that dont have ridiculous rules and dont judge people based on appearance.

Amazing view, delicious food but prices are too high and portions are small. Reservation needed before going there. We went without reservation and werent allowed to sit where we wanted even though the whole restaurant was empty. The waiter wasnt friendly probably because we didnt order as much as they expected.

One of the most popular fine-dining destinations of Istanbul. Great scenery coupled with delicious world cuisine. However I must add that it’s an over-priced experience. You should consider that there are better alternatives in Istanbul with more attention to detail and better service quality.

One of the worst experiences ever! This is not family friendly if you are looking for such a place. Maybe for group of friends/couples/singles. The restaurant is too crowded, the music is very loud (more of clubbing music at the restaurant). The staff are not paying well attention and very rude (Short replies, almost want to get rid of you to get done with their next tasks). The food is not worth the price! (Small portions, very average taste), it took forever to order and then wait again forever to get food. Waiters are just flying around you constantly, which gets you very stressed/annoyed. I didn’t enjoy the experience & wouldn’t recommend if you are going for a cosy experience/good food.Other than this, the place interior design is nice, the view is great and if you want to have fun/go to the bar, etc maybe it will be a different experience than ours. Otherwise I wouldn’t recommend based on my experience!

Very bad service for such an elite place. Food is modest even though it is very overpriced. The 100 euro for the sushi that was partly drenched in hot sauce was definitely a waist. Only few tables which are exactly on the corner have nice views, and if you want one of them, you need to bribe the head waiter. Therefore if you come for the view, just dont bother.

The view is amazing. Staff are professional and the food quality is very good. But the prices are relatively high. It has three main areas, the bar, restaurant, and outside area. These three areas are all closely connected you may hear some noise from the bar in the restaurant for example. Inside the restaurant is peaceful and calm with great view. But as for the bar, in contrary to what I had been told, I saw some locals there, getting drunk, talking very loudly and harshly to each-other, and showing very bad attitude toward strangers and themselves! I even saw physical conflict between four young men. Strangely, these bad behavior looked quite acceptable to the management. So, It would be a good experience to sit there and have a nice meal, specially in the restaurant or outside area which both have an amazing view over the city both in day and night. But be aware to avoid possible conflict with some locals. My experience is for 2015 though.

The view and atmosphere are probably one of the best in Istanbul. Can’t think of a better date/anniversary celebration spot. Although i have to say that the quality of the food is not on par with the prices. Hence 4 stars.

Food was on point! But the staff and waiters are so rude! The old man who had us seated, two waiters who served us hardly speak English and make u feel uncomfortable talking to them! (weird for a tourists spot), they even put extra items n the receipt at the end and even took longer time understanding the fact that we haven’t ordered those things.

Setting is beautiful, food is very mediocre ( now visited Ulus 29 and I can now say sunset has very poor quality food). I probably could have made better at home. Staff were very friendly, especially the bartender thank you. Also there are hidden costs such as the service charge plus the seating charge so just be warned.

We heard that Sunset Grill and Bar is one the best restaurants in Istanbul, so I booked a table for my wife’s birthday. And gladly she loved it so much!The view from the mountaintop is stunning and when it got dark, the lights were shining like the stars. Romantic feeling, nice cocktails and good food left my wife an unforgettable birthday.We really recommend the sashimi, which is very fresh. Also we like the sushi rolls (crunchy shrimp rolls). Even though it is a little bit pricy, we think it’s worthwhile.

Unreal location! One of our favorite views so far in istanbul. It’s a very nice restaurant. The location reminded us a bit of La Jolla, CA. We went for lunch, the food was good. I am sure it would be an amazing spot for dinner/drinks! We would certainly come back

This place is a must. The location and decor is beautiful. Food was delicious there is also a cool bar to hang out inside. Tall blonde lady manager was so helpful and found us a cab driver with a credit card machine to take us back to our hotel

I did not like the service at all, just couple tables were full and when we asked to sit by the view they said all are reserved n no one even showed up while we were there. many guys work there but they just walk around and moving tables. i dropped my soup n no one came up to clean the table or ask me if I like another one, also asked for our leftovers for take out n at the end they seem to have no idea where is the food. I cant name this place a luxury restaurant.

The view was amazing.The food for the price you pay is just enough.But what they really have to fix is the service, it was a pure chaos and made the dinner very hectic.And they asked for a review on TripAdvisor, withch sounded very depressed, so stop doing that.

So i booked online and received a mail telling me that if I was late more than 5min, table wont be held.I arrived on time and waited 23min to be seated.Asked the staff 3x to be seated and after sometime i was seated.Asked for some sushi and the waiter told me that the kitchen was overcrowded and it will take some time.So I ordered some tempura for starter.Tempura was great.Main dish I ordered some Octopus and they werent that great honesltly.Dessert was good (had some creme brulée).The atmosphere was too louzy.You had chill music but at the same time, hits music.So. both were mixing and it was really bad for the hear.Also there is only one toilet for the entire restaurant (i wont write about the waiting time).Billed came,140lira just to be seated + 10% service charge.In total I spend 1300 Lira for two peoples.Way too expensive for what it is honestly.Then came the time to live.Asked the reception to order a taxi.She told me to tell the vallet.Told the Vallet.Didnt do anything.Ordered myself through uber.had 5taxi that accepted and then cancel cause they were asking 300lira for a journey that was 100lira max.One driver finally accepted without negotiation but I waited like an hour.Overall not that great experience.Wont recommend it.

One of the most beautiful restaurants in Istanbul with a wonderful view of the sunset, delicious dishes and chic ambiance.

What a lovely setting, high above the Bosphorus with an amazing view of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge! At night the bridge is lit and provides a dramatic view of watching cars traverse from Europe to Asia and back again! The kebab was amazing as was the rib eye! Don’t miss the mushroom risotto to go with the rib eye!!! For starters the yellow tail tuna and the duck spring rolls pair nicely with a bottle of Pamakule L! Go for the food and the view and enjoy the bar for a warm up cocktail and an after dinner digestive!

The service is awful, the waiters are extremely rude, the food is not bad but is not good either. Totally overpriced.

An awful first experience, me and my family booked a table 10 days ago and traveled for one hour in the car just for this restaurant and when we arrived we got a table with no view in the furthest place there was. The staff also were un understanding and had an unfair reception just because we are tourists. Me and my family leaved and went to another restaurant because of this.

I give it a -5 star.The staff gave us a really bad table view when we booked 10 days ahead and did not even consider giving us a good place.Got a bad impression tbh.

I’m a tourist and I called to book twice it was fully booked and that is perfectly fine since it’s a very good place supposedly ! I got a booking which i specifically asked for on the view for me and my family and when I got there they gave me the table at the rear end of the restaurant and when I asked why they said my booking is new so I asked him what does it matter new or old he said I should’ve booked 2 to 3 weeks earlier ! Like really !!! Before I booked my tickets even . And I asked why would they give me a reservation if there’s no tables he said that’s the only table we have . It was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a restaurant manager he was rude un professional Down right disgusting experience all over . I do not recommend it at all very very bad encounter I can’t get over his rudeness and attitude it was so upsetting

One of the best restaurants in Istanbul serving world and modern turkish cuisine. It Has smoking and non-smoking areas and bar. Prices are higher than normal (about 120-140 $ for 2 person w/out alcohol). Has amazing view to Bosphorus and 1st bridge.

I would like to share my impressions of the celebration of the New Year in this restaurant. Dishes were selected quite well. The only thing is, my husband does not eat an octopus, and there was no replacement for him. I liked the hot dishes and desserts. Thank you so much to the chef. I would like to separately thank the waiters for their excellent service and smiles. I rated 3 for the show program. Very weak. We arrived at 20.00 and we were very bored, lacked the New Years holiday atmosphere. The show program consisted in the fact that the singer walked between the rows of tables, sang and the guests took selfies. There were also 2 musicians, one with a saxophone, the other with a trumpet. Two pairs of dancers also danced between the tables, this is the first time I saw it. For the New Year we come not only for food we are looking for also the mood, so I put 3 stars. Thank you.

The location is just great As the name suggest , the best time to arrive is just before the Sunset Arrive at your table overlooking the Bosphorous from the hillside location and watch the the landscape change from daylight to a sparkle of light on the Asia side and the beautiful suspension bride light up in red and white light. The food does not have any vegan options , however the order taker tried to help us out with some vegan options Overall the restaurant is a great location for an occasion , however you will be disappointed if you are a vegetarian or vegan Staff helpful and welcoming

AVOID IF NOT FROM TURKEY. As per previous reviews they try to sit tourists in the worst seats away from the view/ main area and the locals. They told us they had no space when clearly they had a dozen tables free (for the entire evening). Eventually they moved us but the deputy manager was incredibly rude. We’ve never experienced such poor customer service in Turkey. Soho house recommended this restaurant we will suggest to them to remove the recommendation. Food was ok, the same as an itsu/ low quality sushi shop in London.

Incredible view of Istanbul plus great food and service.

The view is unique, the rest is disappointing.I was here 6 years ago and I was happy then.Today I ordered carbonated water and a sushi sashimi mix. Until the food came, the water in the glass ran out of carbonate. It took about 45 minutes, which is an unacceptable delivery time. The different types of fish were not fresh. Some sushi rolls had so much wasabi in them so that it wad barely eatable.Unfortunately, you will be charged for the service, which is not usually the case in Turkey. The service leaves a lot to be desired and you are quickly categorised.Here you will be disrespectfully charged for water that you do not order. The water bottle was opened in the beginning without me saying anything and this was charged even though I did not drink it.I would have expected much more for this price.

It has been over 20 years since the first time I have visited Sunset. It has always been one of my favorite places in terms of atmosphere, view, food. When it comes to hosting business lunch or dinners, it is the perfect spot. For special dinner, you will not be disappointed. So I love the place. However my latest experience with Sunset really disappointed me.It is one of the expensive restaurants in Istanbul (probably in Turkey too) and visiting Sunset means that you reserve your funds for the visit. Each plate of delicious food is worth the money. I have no doubt on this. However I experienced an over pricing or in other words additional surprising charge on my tab which motivated me to provide this feedback.I was charged additional fee of (approxiametly) 200TL(for 2 pax) which is called KUVER that basically is bread, olive oil and table setup fee that you should normally be expecting from a restaurant. I suspect that was charged just because I did not drink wine or alcoholic beverage that was supposed to increase the amount of my bill.I do not enjoy drinking alcoholic beverages a lot. And if it is a lunch, I am usually enjoy soft drink with my food. Sunset has a wide range of quality Turkish and international wines and they even have an experienced sommelier that will guide you to choose the right wine. And I suspect Sunset is expecting you to drink wine. If you do not then you get charged for KUVER! This is just my feeling and I am not happy paying excessive amounts for bread, olive and table setup.

Very nice restaurant with beautiful view by the bosphorus

There is a reason you leave a small fortune behind: they earn it with a great culinary experience. Come half an hour early to digest the encyclopedic wine list and dont discount local wine. Famous for its yummy sushi, but you may as well opt for escargots, or the less exotic meat dishes. Expect to be humbled by your waiter... Highly recommended.

Restaurant is great. I enjoy both their extensive wine list and great food, which is the reason why, I am a regular. A pity that the waiters serve only those, who are important to them. The rest of the crowd get pretty much neglected. Maybe its the culture 🤷🏻‍♂️

Unfortunately, I had an issue with this place.The view was really good, the crab (like main dish I ordered ) was good, but I didn’t taste the crab bcs they made it so much spicy. So, that’s all good things about this place.I have an allergy and we always asked waitress by what the food made , to choose something. In the end, the brought the dessert with ingredients for what I have allergy (but before the order they said that this dessert doesn’t contain any allergy for what I have), just during eating I realize that (I saw something in the dessert)! I was shocked! And the manager just said “ I’m sorry “. People who has allergy and special diet understand me how difficult to live with that, and because of rude mistake of the restaurant, I got health problem again.This place for sure not client oriented.The service is slow, we were waiting for the order long, also we were searching any waitress to order something, to ask the bill.The took the car for parking and the didn’t give the card (but for some people the gave), and after leaving the place it took around 10 minutes to find out which car and where’s the car.

Posh restaurant on top of a hill with views of the bridge and the Bosphorus. The menu is very complete and the food is really amazing (sushi included). The waiters though are quite bad. They try to mislead you constantly bringing more things than what you’ve ordered...
