The best way to experience this in the context of a tourist is to book one of their daily or extended tours available everyday with limited slots. We took the daily tour which was done is around 75 minutes with a snack at the end. Our guide showed us around and talked about the difference in the educational approach of this institution. Keep an open mind, listen to what the guide has to say and ask a lot of questions if youre curious. It may not look like it, but this school is for people who are looking into the future.*Ticket price may come off as expensive and my review does not consider the quality of education here, as I have no in depth knowledge on that.

We just finished the Extended Tour of the Green School (incl. a visit to the student village). It is worth your time, energy and money. This is such a vibrant community that leaves you inspired to make a contribution to sustainable living and education back at home (or to come back for a longer stay).The lunch served at the end of the extended tour was one of the best meals I had in Bali. I can highly recommend visiting!

Everything in the school hasn’t been updated in half a decade, projectors barely work, badminton rackets that have broken and rusted, no whiteboards, little to no funding for their high school mechanics classes, school bus that sounds like it’s going to fall apart and many more things. The school hasn’t had any money put into new learning equipment for over half a decade.

Even on a Sunday, a guided tour of the international Green School, a half-hour drive south-west of Ubud, makes everyone want to be, or at least feel like, a kid again, or at least a student – of life, nature, sustainability, balance, creativity, community. For a little over an hour, we’re guided from one incredible bamboo structure to the next at the inspirational, original, unconventional, entrepreneurial, mind-expanding, tech-savvy school and marvelling at all of the idyllic information we receive along the way.

This school is very unique, perfect place for people who want to study about sustainable life. All building are made of bamboo and open air classroom.

The tour is very good organize and a lot of information. The Green School is very special because of the Bamboo constructions and the green way of thinking.

Very unusual and ordinary school. They try to teach children how to be a responsible and sustainable future leaders. They teach their children how to grow their own food, use their own waste for fertilizer, teach them to meditate. They even have their own yoga barn!The architecture is also beautiful!

Finally I went to the Green School! It is not only a school of hands-on experience but it is a whole package of an education, entrepreneurship, art, culture, environment, diversity and mutual understanding. My experience with the Green School is amazing. I went to the Green School to be a volunteer for a Sustainable Solutions eco-festival event that has held by the Green School from 2nd to 4th of May 2019. It was a rewarding volunteering event where I learned so much from others. Inside the Green School I could explore bamboo based buildings, the composting station, millenium bridge, heart of school, their unique dry toilet which is waterless by adopting the clivus multrum system, kemBali center room where we can run the trash/recyclables into something useful and many more. Green School makes me feel and bend like a bamboo!

This is a famous place in Bali. Although you like green life or not, you should come here one time. I dont know the fee ticket but its not cheap. The weather in Bali is not good with me. Im having flu.

Green School is a Brilliant Marketing Enterprise, and not a bad school either. They do not have a specific methodology for teaching so you are shooting dice when it comes to teachers. The buildings are super cool and they do have the Green thing going (if you dont mind the compost toilet smell). The High end community is good for networking with too if you have a local or international business. They do have more White teachers than others schools but without a foundation for a common and consistent curriculum, its just a bunch of very nice buildings with lots of foreign teachers that may or may not be great

Ive never been to this school yet, but I heard about it last year from my tuition student and his family.Once I heard about this unique school and its curriculum, I began to fall in love with this school. I have watched almost all of its videos in youtube. They are awesome.I wonder if I might be able to be part of this school it would be such a great pleasure for me.. since I also love Bali and its culture. One of my dream is living in this island and grow old there..Lets just hope and keep dreaming...

Green School is a great school in a way thats its unique from a majority of schools. Green School encourages its students to be very environmentally aware and very happy, by not only teaching the students there environmental studies, but also by making them do a large variety of fun and amazing activities, such as organic pizza making, coconut tree climbing, farming, bamboo paper making, and even bamboo construction. If Id imagined myself as a student at Green School, Ill really enjoy farming, building bamboo huts and recycling everyday.But although it provides a lot of exciting activities to its students, there is one thing that Green School greatly lacks: Good quality education. Although Green School does in fact teach many lessons that traditional schools would have, such as English, Science, Math, and the local language, their lessons in Science and Math lack depth and they dont have a testing system like other schools to force them to study those lessons hard.But not-so-deep education aside, being a school that involves a lot of group activities, it heavily encourages students there to socialise and make friends or even well-built communities. If you want your children/grandchildren/great-grandchildren, to start socializing with others, or learn to communicate with others the best way possible, or simply just encourage them to make friends, this school is the place to send them to.

A unique school that preach and practice green sustainability and also contributes back to its community. It was a really eye opening and inspiring visit for me.

I went to Green School twice, once for the campus tour, the other time for the capoeira class. I highly recommend doing a tour here. Theres always criticism on revolutionary things. Keep up the amazing work in transforming the next generation!

The grounds are beautiful and the school has the appearance of an oasis. But, after visiting a few times, this place ends up being more a mirage than an oasis. Not to mention the prices, whether for tuition or events are exorbitant, especially considering the costs in Bali.

This place makes me wish I could be in school again. I wish I could enroll! Its feels like what school should be. The bamboo structures, the food, the barefootedness, the yoga, the connection to the environment and to one another — its all incredibly special. The enclosed air-conditioned ATM near the entrance is just a gentle reminder that it is still very much a business. While that does detract slightly from the fantasy, the magic remains. The events held here are terrific, though tickets are very expensive if youre not a local or a member of the school in some capacity. Ive seen Jane Goodall speak here and Michael Franti perform — both are events that I will remember for the rest of my life.

If I can suggest an alternative I would encourage you to google Lombok Learning Village in Lombok... The program is great as they follow the IPC program and the school principal is very dedicated. my kids are absolutely thriving there and it is more chilled than Bali. Lombok is a beautiful island and the school fees are very reasonable.

The green school in Bali was promoted by John Hardy, a Canadian jeweler living in Bali, after seeing the film The Truth Unwilling to Face in 1997. It is the easiest way to obtain bamboo in 3-5 years. The main building materials, the sustainable living base created by the IBUKU design team, are specially experienced by parents and children from all over the world every year;95% of the base comes from the local green bamboo. The green school provides the most natural and organic learning environment for all students. We just went to visit, and we still had to apply before entering. Through a dedicated commentary, we can better understand the people and the founders want to convey. Nature, people and green balance, the bamboo-made main school building is next to the vegetable garden. In the rice field, students here must learn to grow rice, grow vegetables, and cook vegetables, in addition to studying; plastic bags are not used in the school. Plastic bottles are not easy to decompose. Pollutants, 70% of the electricity comes from solar power; even building houses is also one of the courses. Students from different countries are also like a global village. Students from different cultural backgrounds share different human values, and classes are in harmony with nature, so that the body and mind can enjoy the best Natural growth, thinking of establishing an international outlook

Its really interesting, because you can show a full bamboo building structure, even to the furniture, the furniture also uses bamboo. Actually this is a school complex, but because the concept is green it was finally applied to the school building which chose to use sustainable materials, the bamboo.
