The place is beautiful. Not only because its a river island, but also its away from pollution of city. You can feel the silence, turning into peace. The path to this place is not properly marked by the Government of Tourism.A bridge work started a long time ago and Government authority seems to forget about it.Anyways, it is worth to visit the place...
Singhanath Temple, assigned to early 9th century AD, is located in the gopinathpur village, baramba Tehsil of Cuttack district, in the Indian State of Odisha. This temple is dedicated to Bhagwan Shiva and is worshipped by Narasimha an avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu. This is an example of traditional kalingan style of architecture. The temple is reachly carved with sculptural panels and decorative motives. The pics, proves it better. It has Rekha deula and terraced roof Jagmohan. This temple is unique for its sculptural embellishment of both the Saivaite and Vaishnava sects. Mahashivratri, Makar Sankranti, Dussehra, Kartik Purnima etc. are mostly famous festivals here. People who do Upanayana and marriage also prefer this place as a nice option. Apart from these, the way from baramba to the temple attracted me the most. It is situated on an island, in the river Mahanadi and the road moves over the Sand. During rainy season, when the river flows, it is difficult to reach. Only boat is the means through which one can approach. This makes the place an outstanding one. Like other religious places, here, too, monkeys are found in numbers.
Bali Singhanath - Gopinathpur, Badamba,9th Century built by Somavanshi KingsKataka (Cuttack) , OdishaThe final leg of our trip on 20th May was towards Bali Singhanath - Gopinathpur . The scorching heat hadnt deter our plans and the road from Ansupa to Nuapatna was under construction and repair. Before reaching Badamba we took a shorter route meandering through the village road of Gopinathpur it took us a while to get to that opening of the river bank. Actually a make shift road on the river bed. We halted at the point where the river still was flowing below the road and walked across to the hill island. The temperature had immediately dropped the moment we walked across the bridge . River effect. What an experience and a place .A river island in Mahanadi . A temple built as early as 9th century or earlier , one of most mind blowing work of art . A Jewel box on Stone and amalgamation of Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Shaktism, Buddhism and Jainism. I was fascinated to see the place from the Ramnath temple , in Baideshwar in December. I could not wait until end of year. Top it all on one side is story of Ramayana and the other side Mahabharata carved to the details. All of us were just spell bound. The temple has a rekhavimana and terraced roof jagamohana of transitional phase of temple style of Kalingan order. The temple is unique for its sculptural embellishment of both the Saivaite and Vaisnavite cult. The temple is of the panchayatana class though only the south-east corner shrine has survived. Several pidha shrines have been added in the compound at a later date which houses sculpture from the collapsed corner shrines. On the basis of architectural style like four mouldings pabhaga, incipient stage of pancharatha on plan and the decorative element, sculptural embellishment, iconographical feature assigned the temple to the 9thcentury A.D. The temple is richly carved with sculptural panel and decorative motifs.Within the complex is Somanatha temple - It is a living temple and the presiding deity is a Sivalinga within a rectangular yonipitha, made of chlorite. The exterior of the temple is highly embellished with architectural motifs and sculptural motifs. The pabhaga has four mouldings and the patta and basanta portion are relieved with scroll work, muktalobhi-hamsa and hanging pendant. The jangha portion is represented with parsvadevata niches at raha pagas and flanked by elongated khakharamundis. The khakharamundis enshrined the images of Aja-ekapada, Ardhanarisvara, Uma-Mahesvara, Hari-Hara and Parvati. The gandi has four bhumiamlas. The bhumivarandis are represented with miniature chaitya medallion and enshrining the images of animal, human face, Sivalinga, dancer, Ganesa, Varahi, Parvati and Bharavahaka, etc. Each raha projection have bho motif enshrining images of, Rishi, Andhakasurabadha murty, Parvati and Natraj. The mukhashala of the temple is rectangular , roof is flat, and pillared. The front portion of the wall some of the gorgeous carvings of the river goddess . Two distinguished broad bands were having the images of Saptamatrikas. On the keft panel are Virabhadra, Maheshwari and Aindri. On the right are Brahmi Kaumari and Varahi with fish and bowl. Chamunda is seen squatting garlanded with skeletons.Every year on the day of Dolo Purnima there is a Hari Hara Veta i.e., meeting of Singhanatha and Jagannath at Badamba.

Best picnic spot in Odisha....
Very good placement
Good & fine tourist place beautyful place
Very Cooling placeMind-blowing nature
Excellent temple in an island. Scenic view is best in winter season. One have to approach on a boat from Baidwaswar in Rainy season and from January onwards temporary fair weather road is built from Gopinathpur. In Rainy season the road connection will be wiped out. So visit accordingly. One Sri Ram Temple is also on top. One can visit by climbing up with the help of staircases.
