There are two buildings. The first has one chamber, the entrance to which is through a very small doorway that an adult will have difficulty getting past. The second building has two chambers and is still in use: there were candles burning inside on a Friday afternoon. The exteriors of both buildings are surrounded by scaffolding. A trail circles the compound, and there is an impressive statue at the compounds entrance. There are information panels about the monastery but not about the statue.
Calm and serene, at the end of a hill road, surrounded by scenic views.
St. Johns Monastery (also known as St. Monastery). The monastery was built in the 13th century. It consists of two vaulted churches, a bell tower and monastic buildings. The bell tower was built in the 17th century.
