Must say, I really enjoyed the meal option that I chose. The vegan selection here was great and I had to come back again. All take out for now so I cant tell you about the atmosphere or the staff here.

Dined here last night , Lao Thai restaurant with spectacular food and a great, gregarious owner! Dont skip the drink menu, we had sake based cocktails that are unique to this restaurant and delicious. Menu options you will find nowhere else! We chose options new to us and savored every bite! Very attentive and thoughtful service. Can’t wait to return and explore more menu options. A jewel among Appleton restaurants!

Love love love Basil Cafe! The food is amazing - I’ve never had something I didn’t like. The coconut water does take some getting used to - but now I’m in love with it! The staff is fabulous, warm, and welcoming. Not to mention Basil’s commitment to celebrating the LGBTQ community is so awesome. Definitely one of my top restaurants in the Fox Valley!

Fast friendly service, great menu and great flavors! This place is definitely worth checking out. Most of the dishes can be made vegetarian. They can also make the dishes spicy, even at maximum spice they are still well within reason and not overpowering. The restaurant was neat and clean with plenty of seating.

I wouldnt describe myself as an adventurous eater. With that said, Basil makes some of the best fried rice, noodles, and vegetables Ive had the pleasure of stuffing in my food-hole. I try to get something different every time to see if theres anything I dont like on the menu. Havent found it yet. Will keep searching. You know, for science. Lots of amazing vegetarian options if thats your thing.

Update: went to Basils for the first time since Covid to celebrate. Everything was amazing - absolutely delicious. First time Ive gotten the brisket, which was just crazy delicious flavor blended over delicious flavor. More than that, the staff was so sweet, knowledgeable, helpful, and seemed genuinely happy to be back with the customers. Best restaurant in Appleton!

Awesome food ! We wait for them to open restaurant whenever they take a break .My husband always takes basil fried rice while I have tried pad Thai, green curry etc. their boba tea is the best that I have ever tried ( durian and litchi)

Absolutely love this place! The food is phenomenal and the portions are large so you can definitely have your choice for a couple of meals. The waitstaff is very friendly, prompt and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is very relaxed and inviting. I personally love the Pad Kee Mao with egg noodles instead of rice noodles with a spiciness level 3 out 4. I love that you can adjust the spiciness to your liking. Great food, great service! We will be back! Highly recommend this place but keep in mind they close every summer for 2 months...this year they close on June 30th and dont open until September 9th. So if you have a craving go now!

Beautiful spot with tasty food and great service! Many options or substituitions for plant-based (vegan) meals. I loved the small details, like coconut infused water, crushed peanuts or cilantro leaf garnishing the dishes, genmaicha green tea, and elegant artwork and furniture. We had vegetable spring roles, veggie/tofu pad Thai, and vegetables in house peanut sauce. The service was quick. Everything tasted great! Portions were generous (much too much for one person), so now we get to have another meal later!

Simply amazing. Weve been there about a half dozen times. Every time both the food and service were outstanding. Our favorite is the Tom Yom soup. It has a little spice and is oh so flavorful. The Pad Thai and Laad Na are also amazing. Weve tried their curries, fried rice and lemongrass dishes also great. The water is the table is infused with coconut 😁 simply refreshing. If you happen to go on a weekend and its busy and you have a wait time, trust me (as a foodie stranger on google) that it is totally worth the wait.

Every part about this dining experience is better than any other restaurant in the area. They know what theyre doing in the kitchen, their staff is top notch, and the atmosphere is perfect. Dont even think about another place. This is the best food in Appleton.

We ordered take out for the first time tonight wanting to support a local business and oh my gosh, the food was so good!!! The prices were great and the process for order and pickup was so easy. Everyone I spoke with was INCREDIBLY pleasant and they were just grateful for business during this really hard time. We will totally be back.

Dont get a table by the cash register, table we got was a bit annoying because all the pick up order people keep passing by us, in and out. Coconut infused water is delicious, we ordered chicken fried rice and seafood pho. This last happens to have meat balls, which I dont know how that makes it seafood pho.Fried rice was pretty good.Pho, no so much very plain, flavorless broth. Picture below is without the garnishes, they only provide mint, been sprouts, half a lime, fresh jalapenos, and sriracha and a sweet brown sauce. (No fried garlic, or crush chili sauce) I asked the server for the oil chili sauce. She forgot about it, had to ask again she was busy on her cellphone.Ive been here before, fried noodles and pad thai is amazing. But wont go back for pho unfortunately.

Just really good Thai and Vietnamese food. Plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free possibilities and offerings on the menu. Fast but polite and professional service made the entire dinner great. I had the pad thai and rice paper rolls which were all top notch.

Price seems awfully high for the quantity of food compared to other places.

Food and services are super. We really like the place. Unfortunately, theyre a hit or miss when it comes to when theyre open. There have been times where theyre closed half the year with no way of knowing when theyre in open season or closed season.

Let me stay out by saying that Ive been a fan since they first opened. Im not sure whats happened lately but the food has just been average she not nearly as flavorful. I will say that they have the curbside pickup perfected.

We found this place on a whim while traveling through Wisconsin and it was hands down best Thai food I have had in America. The restaurant serves coconut infused water, which was light and refreshing with the meal. For dinner we had the veggie egg rolls, crab rangoon, pad Thai, pad kee mao, and Basil fried rice. Each course was better than the next.We will definitely come back next time we are in town.

Extremely greasy food. Only mildly flavorful, if that. We got Laad Na and the noodles were completely deep fried, even though the menu says lightly fried. The sauce was bland and tasteless. Very disappointed, and very sick to our stomach from grease. We hadnt eaten there for two years and we had forgotten why! I will give them credit for fast and contact-free delivery during the pandemic.

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in the Fox Valley. They have the best pad thai Ive ever tasted. The inside is beautiful and their curbside pick up is extremely fast. I placed my order at home and got a text that it was done before I left my driveway. The staff is so friendly and kind. I was so happy to get my pad thai fix today! They also have a good beer selection. I also really like how careful they are with covid, the staff member never touched my credit card and she wore a mask the whole interaction. She brought everything out to my car. The food was piping hot even 10 minutes later. They also give huge portions. One pad thai is enough for 4 meals for me.

Exceptional dining experience! The food was amazing all the way around- Crab Rangoon’s, the Tom Yum Soup and all of the entrees were great! Our server - Me, was so sweet and explained the dishes so well! Wonderful service, food, and atmosphere all around! We will definitely be back!

I slipped in just as dinner service was starting. Had the rice rolls with pork ... soft unctuous steamed dumpling deliciousness perfectly salty and sweet at the same time. The Pad Thai in a wrapper was an unusual presentation... and the insides were excellent!Great service, good prices... will definitely be back!

Last week was the first time we went to this fine restaurant. But It is no doubt not the last. We enjoyed the evening very much with the efficient service, with the first-rate cooking and booze and with the honest pay. We will no doubt return there in a short time.

We are super impressed with Larry since we called an order at 2 pm when they were closing the lunch period. He was kind and took the order as normal and said pick up was in 5 min. The food was ready before we got there. Everything was delicious! We love this place.

Not what it used to be. I used to LOVE the curry here, specifically the green curry. I ordered it last night and it was extremely spicy. Don’t get me wrong, I love spicy food-medium is usually where I like my food. This curry was so spicy that I couldn’t eat it. I asked if they could make me some a little more mild and they said no but they could bring me more coconut milk to add to it. That didn’t do much. I was pretty disappointed also in the service. The server seemed irritated that I said something about the food. As someone that rarely sends my food back, I felt very disappointed at their reaction. The appetizers were delicious though and I do think they use fresh ingredients.

Excellent food and average service. First time here and they move you in and out quickly. My wife had the Spicy Lemongrass and I the Laad Na. Both were excellent. Our server was efficient but not overly friendly. Her standard response to our saying thank you was no problem. Will definitely go back again though!

We have been here a number of times and always appreciate the quality of the food. Portions are huge and the dishes are authentic. I love the pad thai but was pleasantly surprised by the balance of the ingredients in their spring rolls and dry vermicelli bowls, my favorite Vietnamese dish. This restaurant doesn’t take same day reservations on the weekends because it’s so busy, so plan ahead!We would be remiss if we didn’t mention how good the service here is at this very busy restaurant. At our most recent visit, the kitchen forgot to send out our appetizers for a protracted length of time; we very gently noted this to our waiter, who was very gracious and expedited the order. We were surprised when he gave us a complimentary dessert and subtracted the cost of our appetizers from our total. We really appreciated their commitment to their customers in addition to the quality of their food. Would highly recommend.

More upscale than the prices would suggest, and phenomenal food as well. Extremely accommodating towards vegans, I had their Vietnamese crepe vegan and their vegan pho. Each were outstanding.

Food is always good. Didnt realize they closed at 8pm on Saturdays, did not look at their posted hours, and showed up at 7:55pm. They didnt care, sat us and got our food out in like 5 minutes. Love this place!!

It was good. I thought the coconut water was a little interesting. I would have preferred they asked instead of just assuming everyone likes coco water. Over all nice atmosphere and good service... food was pretty good as well. I was a bit disappointed they didn’t have taro for boba.

One of the best Pho places in Appleton, they have good curry as well. But the biggest thing that keeps bringing me back is there water thats infused with coconut in a way that I have never experienced before. Ive gone there just to get appetizers and drink their water, which the water is free, but very delicious.

Best Thai/Vietnamese in the Vally!The building and surrounding area is somewhat unassuming from the outside but is nice inside. Most importantly, the food is awesome!!!. I travel for a living, and can say Basils food easily stands up to any Thai food Ive had. Lots of flavor and well prepared. This is one of the gems of the Valley

Great food all around. Try the Thai Lo Mein its to die for. Thai iced tea is very good here as well. Authentic dishes with great service. I love coming here many of the dishes are hard to find at other Thai restaurants especially with this level of quality and love.

I grew up eating Hmong food, a cross of lao and Vietnamese cuisine and I definitely think this place is way over priced and over hyped for what it is. The food arrived way too quickly-less than 10 minutes- which is a red flag that their meals are preped beforehand and therefore, not fresh. Ive had the Pad Thai and the red curry with chicken and they were both mediocre. The chicken was bland, dry, and not fresh. The curry was flavorful and spicy. The pad Thai was okay, nothing memorable. Asian food is cheap to make and buy, so I wouldnt recommend this place for people whove never had authentic Asian food. There are plenty of Asian markets/restaurants that beat out this place in the Fox valley.

Not only the best Thai Ive had in Wisconsin, but the best restaurant food Ive had here. A strong contender for some of the best Asian food Ive ever had, and I used to live in SE Asia. This place is fantastic. Reasonable prices especially given the fat kid portions of food youre given.

I was super skeptical looking at the outside of the restaurant, but stepping inside changed that completely. Came during the dinner rush so there was a little bit of a wait, but the seating area (at the back entrance) felt cozy enough that I was able to enjoy a beer while waiting.The atmosphere inside really makes you wonder how they were able to transform the space into such a nice and authentic looking place to dine.The wait staff were quick, courteous, and knowledgeable. Ordered the Thai Lo Mein and it was probably the best that Ive ever had anywhere in my life. I cant wait to come back and try everything else!

Unexpected and delicious! Larger interior with a welcoming atmosphere and to start with, an amazing coconut water infused water! All of the flavors of just about every dish work harmoniously! Great service, wonderful menu, but a teeny parking lot!

If I could give them more stars, I would.The staff at Basil Cafe is always friendly and personable. They are always patient and willing to help out with questions on the menu and open to making changes to their dishes to suit your diet or taste.They get your food out on a timely manner and all dishes come at the same time, or at least near the same time with a table of 10+. This has become the go-to restaurant for all family get togethers.All of this aside, the food is amazing. Nearly anything on the menu can be made vegan and it is ALL good. Portion sizes are great for the size and you will not be able to resist going back for more. Highly recommend the pad see ew!

New Valley Favorite!This is now my wifes favorite restaurant. Her go-to dish is the Kow Boon (Chicken Curry Rice Noodle Soup). She always gets the large so she had leftovers (its HUGE!!).My favorite is the spicy lemongrass, partially because you can adjust the heat. I like to be challenged with something extremely spicy, which is hard to find around here from my experience. Basil gave me a run for my money with their Asian hot spicy lemongrass, though it was still manageable. You can adjust the heat down as well, if spicy isnt your thing.The atmosphere is cozy and warm, wait staff is also warm and inviting. The servers are also very helpful answering questions, and making suggestions.The prices are also manageable, considering the fresh ingredients and quality.My wife and I love this place! We dont eat out often, but weve gone to Basil the last three times weve gone out.Great place for am authentic Thai meal!
