This temple has a story. That is, many years ago a hunter came to this place to hunt animals when honey was dripping from a hive and falling on a rock. Surprised he saw that there was a lingam when he saw what it was. Then the kings came there and worshiped. It was called the honey lingam(தேனீஸ்வரர்) because the honey fell on top of the lingam.
