My friend and I visited this state park for the first time and it was an undiscovered gem in my opinion. Park - It has a beach!!! Enough said. Love how there is a beach option within an hour of Washington, DC. The trail was short per the park ranger and lots of ticks so my friends and I stayed away from exploring the trail. You can definitely get a couple miles of a hike in if you walk the beach to the pond area in a full circle. Plenty of picnic tables and grills in the grass area for gatherings. I would recommend bringing your own shade whether that’s an umbrella or tent. Most people go after the shady tables first so please be warned. Parking - plenty of spots to park near the beach. Two big parking lots. Cost - $5 dollars to enter the park for my car. Restrooms- They are here and have a good amount near the beach area. They weren’t that clean and pretty, but it’s a public park. Bay- They have a boating area that looked very chill with a marine store for supplies and snacks. Food - they have this fast food restaurant available to park guests for a quick bit to eat. Overall, it’s a chill spot to have a beach day or cookout celebration with friends. I would recommend that you check out this state park!

When it comes to beach everyone loves it. Sandy Point state park is one such good one where you can completely have fun with your family. There is an entry fee of $4 per person when you enter into the state park. Such a big park and plenty of parking space is available. Restrooms are available near the beach area and there is separate space for fishing too. Multiple parking space available and there are benches for having a party too. Very great place to enjoy with family.

My family LOVES Sandy Point! $4/person weekdays, $5/weekends and holidays, unless a kid is in a car seat and then they are free. Jellyfish are out in full force this August. This is one of our favorite day trip spots. Picnic areas. Playground. Concession stand. Lifeguard on duty during the day. Sand for sandcastles. Looking directly at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and enormous ship after ship passing through. A great place for a day of sun, sand, and surf!

Worth to visit this place. 5$ per person and no charge for my 2 year old kid. Picnic areas are next to parking lots. Too much of smoke in woods because of grills. People are visiting with family and friends but no one was following Corona guidelines. At afternoon bathrooms are getting worse, no one is flushing. Park was very clean and well maintained. Water, near to bridge was not clean, so avoid that place to swim.

I cant believe Ive never known about Sandy Point. It costs $4/person in the vehicle and they do accept credit cards. The offer concession, a kids playground, picnic tables/grills leading up to the beach. The beach itself it typical length, plenty of room to find a spot. Lifeguard were sparce this day, but I wouldnt imagine it be much of an issue. Waves are rather calm and water was warm. There are some jellyfish so you have to be careful. The Bay Bridge in the background was spectacular.Great for the family and friend, could certainly make a day out of it.

A nice decent spot. Can get full and be closed so come early, Ive experienced this. So try checking online state parks website for maybe possible closures keep fingers crossed. Water is not pristine blue but we arent getting sick from swimming in this salty water. People enjoying themselves even with dead bugs in the natural water from mama earth. No seashells but rocks and the enjoyment of people gathering enjoying nature even cooking on the grill and they offer some park grills for use.Bathroom area can get stinky and awfully disgusting after awhile but I go for the water not port-a-potty facilities.

What beautiful big Beach Park. Only $3 for unlimited parking! And there is more than enough parking! Only 40 minutes from DC. There are plenty of picnic tables too. And several play grounds for the kids. The beach is huge with plenty of room to play or set up a volleyball net. The view is wonderful of the Bay Bridge. And it has several boat ramps. Right now April 2021 there are plenty of Porta potties but they are very clean. And there are still water spirits available to clean your feet and beach stuff. Go, get some sunshine on the breezy Chesapeake Bay!

Although the snack bar is a little pricey, there are plenty of tables and grills to plan a cookout. The speech nearby the snack bar is usually the most filled up with tourist but a short distance away you can find a quieter Beach area with less blankets to share the sand with. This place is perfect for kids due to the water, the playgrounds, and the plentiful trees that can provide shade. Just be careful of the stinging nettles during the summer.

Great beach just an hour away from DC with lots of space to spread out and lots of benches and grills and green grass to throw your after-swimming party. They do have some bathrooms and showers for you to use and wash off the sand. It gets really busy on summer weekends. If you dont make it there by 11:30 AM on the weekend, odds are you wont get in. We love this beach park! There is a ton of sandy beach with lots of space for people to stay spread out while still enjoying the day. The water is cold, but you quickly get used to it. There are almost no waves and the water stays pretty shallow for a while. It’s perfect for young kids who want the freedom to splash and swim. The sun is very direct here, so make sure to wear sunscreen! The beach is patrolled regularly, so it’s safe and we’ll maintained. There are LOTS of picnic tables! A few are covered, but most are lined up just before you reach the beachfront. The bathrooms are large and relatively clean. There’s plenty of parking, usually even right at the front of the lot closest to the beach area. There are also boat launching areas and spaces meant for parties or big events.Military members and dependents get into the park for free! It’s absolutely worth the drive out to Annapolis!

My dog and I stopped in on our way to the Eastern Shore to get pictures of/with the bay bridge. It was about 10am on a Saturday and there were only 3 other cars in the parking lot. We ran into a very friendly park ranger who welcomed us and told us about the available walking trains. I intended to simply get some pictures and leave, but we ended up staying for about an hour to walk the trains and just enjoy the beach. The only negative thing I have to say is that the dumpsters were not bird proof, so lots of them were near/on the dumpsters to scavenge.

Luv luv this beach! its like a half an hour from Baltimore and less than an hour from DC. been a few times this summer, during different times of day and it was never crowded. the beach is clean and the water isnt that awful muddy grey brown u see at other beached along the north east region. apparently jellyfish may surface once in a while (although I havent seen any this summer) and lifeguards are on duty only at designated times and locations along the beach, other than that, its a perfect little place to get away from the city/suburbs and just enjoy a relaxing day out in nature - by urself, with a significant other or with friends/fam.

Sandy Point State Park is a good location of you just want to get a little beach feeling. You can play volleyball, grill, swim, sunbathe, and just enjoy your day. Even offer a baseball court. The day I went was towards the end of the summer so there wasn’t to many people at one spot just enough to find a open space on the sand to relax. Definitely wouldn’t recommend wearing light shoes since the sand there stains orange. The sand isn’t fine it’s more of a rougher sand but still enjoyable.

Sandy Point is a very nice quaint place to go and relax, have a barbecue, swim in the bay, enjoy the other side where its grassy and a little tributary, and just plain hang out for the day. However they charge $5 a person! Not a vehicle, a person! I could not believe it and I was very disappointed because all it is is a little beach on the bay and a little area on the side by that tributary I mentioned. It is very nice for a day trip but Im very hesitant to go back because of the extreme costs of simply going to a park. If it was $5 for a vehicle I would be okay with it but $5 a person is ridiculous! I can take my whole family and spend just as much in gas that it costs to take a family of four and go to Ocean City and sit on the beach for free and actually swim in the ocean with bigger waves because thats what I like to do. I give it three stars because it is a nice day trip but I am extremely unhappy with the high price just to get into a park and sit around.
