I used to have fond memories of Light of Asia but unfortunately since the younger generation took over, the quality has dropped. I had the duck tikka as a starter, for nearly £6 to get 4 small chunks of duck and the rest to be onions and sauce is down right insulting. I got the king prawn korai only to find 75% onions and tomatoes then some processesd curly tiger prawns. Like curly fries but prawns, wouldnt be so bad if it was prawn but Im really not sure what it was. Consistency of brittle rubber. The sauce was tasty though. At nearly £13, completely ridiculous. As a former chef I know full well how much this dish cost to make and what they are trying to gain in profit, unfortunately the cheap ingredients used do not justify the hefty price tag. Next was the paneer tikka. Very very dry, extremely bland and again, does not justify the hefty £9 price. £2 for a soggy chapati, a tandoori roti that was as bland and soggy as the chapati and a peshwari naan. Would have been nice if it was more naan and lest extremely sweet filling.This is my second experience since the refurbishment around 2 years ago and Im afraid to say, I cant see me going back. Good flavours, great service but extremely over priced with dishes reducing the main expensive ingredients to be replaced by much cheaper products. If i could i would have given 2.5 not 3 but I think 2 is too harsh so 3 it is.

Chicken Tikka starter luke warm and swimming in oil. Cauliflower Bhaji was more like Cauliflower storks, with the 1 bit of Cauli which was rock hard. Delivery was 25 mins late.

A really good meal. Value for money and great service. Social distancing rules are in place but theyre not making a big deal about it but will remind you to wear a mask when they need to. As with most places, just use common sense. Good menu choices freshly prepared by staff that clearly care.

Very average for an Indian restaurant. The dishes did taste great, but unfortunately just way too much oil for my liking. The pilau rice also used tinned vegetables. The service was also a little slow and inattentive. Great with the current discount, but not sure I’d be happy paying full price.

Very busy curry house, totally messed up my order but they were apologetic and will give the items FOC next time.Food is well cooked and tasty and the staff are friendly. This hiccup in service will not put me off going there again.

I ordered a takeaway last night for a family birthday and everything we ordered was great and enjoyed by all. The staff are very helpful and courteous and I can’t wait to be able to eat in the restaurant. In the meantime I’ll be ordering all future Indian takeawaysfrom the Light of Asia.

Second time here, and the food and service was top notch. Would reccomend this restaurant to anyone tired of the usual e-number filled sauces in other establishments. This curry is full of fresh ingredients and extremely tasty.

We have ordered many times and every time they are very friendly,out going and always a pleasure to deal with. Food is always hot and on time with there estimated times, weve never had a problem with wrong or missing items. Havent been to the reastaurant in a few years. I understand it was refurbished earlier in 2017. My wife and I visited over the Xmas period and we had a fantastic meal with excellent attentive service, I would highly recommend dining here.

A group of three of us walked in off the street without booking a table. The staff were easily able to accommodate us. The newly refitted restaurant looks fresh and airy. The menu has been completely revised, and some of the old favourites are no longer offered, but as a result some new dishes have taken their place - and we cant wait to try them all.The food is fantastic, and the service is perfect. It was a real joy to see Tom again.My only gripe is the strange use of coloured lighting in the restaurant and toilets. So it gets 4/5.

Service in the restaurant isnt great but for takeaway, the food is really good.

Was nice to be in, asked for all straters and meal to be together, didnt happen but had to leave cos of call, had meal as carry out.... even thought steated numerous times that dont eat veg, and menus at starts says just lamb and extra spices, got home more veg in it than lamb 7 little bits. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Biggest waste of money

Ive been going here since I was a kid with my grandparents, only now its absolutely bloody brilliant and my grandparents are no longer here... so you could say a lot has changed.

What a shame, this used to be a good restaurant. I ordered a takaway for a treat for my family. The food was dreadful, the rice was crispy, curry revolting, poppadoms tasted like they has been cooked in rancid oil basically it was awful only fit for the bin and thats exactly where it went. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This is a well established restaurant in the top of town and run by Tom and his friend. Food here is traditional indian and portions are generous. Try their mutton methi dopiaza and the tandoori is exceptionally tasty. Service is efficient but be prepared to wait if the restaurant is busy as food is cooked fresh. The white house wine is reasonable and waiters are friendly and helpful! Very popular with local regulars.

No greeting on arrival, no thanks for coming when leaving, under-baked paratha, complimentary poppadoms with no dips, brusque service, mediocre main courses..
