CIL has installed a 128 slice CT Scanner at the Ambikapur Medical College Hospital in Surguja headquarters, Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh. The CT Scan machine was funded by the CSR of Bishrampur area of South Eastern Coalfields Ltd. at a cost of Rs. 5 Crore.

Popularly called as District Hospital (जिला अस्पताल), officially known as Government Raghunath District Hospital (शासकीय रघुनाथ जिला चिकित्सालय), now attached with the Government Medical College of Ambikapur, is serving as major hospital facility center with a recently added OPD and a womens hospital building for the masses of this area.As Surguja was a princely state in British India, great part of nostalgic history is attached with every old structures herein.This was Ragunath Hospital, been operational for public service since 1931 but officially inaugurated on 10th of March 1932 by D.H.C. Drake, Esquire, Political Agent C.P. States, I.C.S., who visited along with his wife then.Parallel to this, on the other side of the road, is a huge hospital building recently being added to the earlier Womens Hospital area in the campus.However old historical buildings/structures have been or being in process of replacement as demand grows on for greater and bigger facility areas for several ailment treatment for ever growing population and its increased medical needs.But present X-Ray unit building structure near the water ATM located to the main entrance of present OPD, was old Ramanuj X-Ray and Radiotherapy (in 1931) and old CMO office/Nurses Training Center (now discarded & abandoned) was the Maharani Vijeshwari Memorial Womens Charitable Hospital established and managed then by all women staff in 1937..We Ambikapurian too have many nostalgic memories attached to this hospital as we have come with our loved ones for the treatment, they either still with us or departed....

Staffs are cooperative.

Only building is working with honestly, otherwise facility and services in these type of government hospital is of lowest.
