Ramling Temple near Hatkanangale town of Kolhapur is an ancient and beautiful cave temple from the Ramayana period and is famous for the myth that Lord Rama resided here during his fourteen-year exile. The temple is located on a hill on the Sangli-Kolhapur road, next to Aalte village at a distance of 23km and can be reached after a half hour drive.LEGENDS HAVE ITThe structure of the temple is quite old and the main idol is a ‘Shivling’ inside the cave. Mahadev Gurav, priest of the Ramling temple, said, “It is believed that this Shivling is placed here by Lord Rama during his exile in the forests for 14 years. The cave was first discovered in 1906 by a saint travelling through this region.”

The temple is in calm, green and refreshing surrounding. Its pretty old and its into a cave where the rocks above are always dripping the water in the mountains. Theres an annual event of Kawad where people come here by walking barefoot and carrying a kawad and the community cooks food for almost 8000 people as Prasad. The area is developed by forest department. You can reach the temple by car up to the doorstep and you can also hike there. There are more temples in the surrounding hills. A very cool place for family outing. You can even spot many peacocks here which is awesome.

This is a Lord Shiva (शिवालय) Temple situated on a beautiful hill, near to Kunthugiri (कुंथूगिरी) area. This temple area is nearly 5 Kms away from Ramling Fata (रामलिंग फाटा ) on Kolhapur-Sangli road. The road is bad but still you can have a good time to travel while watching the natures beauty. The temple is located at a hight of nearly 300 feet from the road. The road passes through a forest (जंगल) area.The temple is very old but have maintained the carving till date. Near the entrance you will get the short information about this temple mentioning the key 🗝 story behind the origin of the name Ramling. In short the story is that during the exil (वनवास) of Lord Rama 🎯, he visited this area along with 7 main Rushi (mainly Gautam, Jamdagni, Kashyap etc). Lord Rama had worshiped here to Shiv in a cave and also allowed the 3 different water 💦 streams to flow over the Shiv Pind (शिव पिंड) mainly Ganga, Yamuna and Sarswati (गंगा, यमुना, सरस्वती) by hitting a arrow ➡ on the black rock. You can see the different water streams and springs ♨ flowing all around in the cave. The interior of the cave is very pleasant and beautiful with continuous water 💦 coming over the rocks and directly on the Shiv Pind for 24 X 7 hours. The flow of water forms a big Kund (कुंड) outside the temple. You can see 7 small temples located near this kund. The roof and the walls of the cave gives a cooling 😎 🌨 ❄ ❄ effect even during summer ☀ days. The temple premice is little bit cozy but still you can enjoy a very good visit to this place. The temple is having their own Gaushala (गौशाला) 🐮 Near to the temple. This temple is usually crowded during Mahashivratri (महाशिवरात्रि), Kartik month etc. You have to visit this temple by using your own vehicles 🚙 🚲 🛵 🛵. The surrounding area is very very beautiful during rainy ☔ ☔ season.

Ramling Temple near Hatkanangale village in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, India is an ancient and beautiful cave temple.The structure of the temple is quite old and the main God is a Shivalinga inside the cave. It is believed that this Shivalinga is deployed here by God Rama during his life in the forests for 14 years. It is believed that God Rama worshipped this idol during his forest life.The cave temple of Ramling is carved on the side of a rocky hill. The main cave was around twelve feet square, but almost three forth part of it has been turned into a kind of water tank almost five feet deep. After reaching at the inner side of the temple a beautiful rock-carved ling and a pleasant Ganapati idol comes in to the picture on which contentious water flows. To reach to the ling, devotees need to pass through water level up to couple of feet depending upon the season. In rainly season water level goes up to 3 to 4 feet. Outside the cave-mouth a massive Hemadpanti structure thirteen feet square rests on stone pillars. By the side of the main cave is a row of seven small cells dedicated to the seven Puranic sages or Sapta rishis. Near the temple are several unfailing springs, of which the Nilaganga or Blue Ganges and the Papanasi (sin-destroyer) are tirths or sacred pools. The position of the ling and the Ganapati seems to show that the caves are Buddhist or Jain and have been adopted for Brahmanic worship.The caves are wet always with water flowing from the cave walls all the time. The quantity of water coming into the caves increases during rainy seasons. The source of water in the cave is obviously from hills but could not identify till now. The structures around this temple are ancient, dates back to centuries. The temple is located on a hill on the Sangli-Kolhapur Road.Ramling temple is a classic combination of natural beauty and architectural excellence. A memorizing temple carved entirely in the Hill Stones with the dark woods is an extreme beautification of Nature
