This place is for public ferries, if u are interested in cheap and nice backwaters tour without spending a lot of money, so take the public ferry. Its quiet an adventure

I think the morning timing to JT which goes all the way to Kollam is at 10:30 catch hold of it otherwise you could be paying extra if you want the experience in a private boat

Stop where you take the ferry. I took the one that goes to Kanjiran, 5 min by bus from Kottaiam. It takes about 3 hours a day (departing at 11:30 and is worth 15 times) and 2h15m return (departing at 16:00 and is worth 18 times). Its good to see the backwaters in the most economical way, even though it does not pass through any small channel but you see a bit of everything. There are other schedules but I do not know them.
