Very old stone carved temple of Lord Shankara. Its said to be built in the era of Pandavas. Now it is little bit renovated but still have its old grandeur remaining. Some movies are also filmed here. Its simple and calm place. On Mahashivratri usually in March or February big festival is celebrated in the temple campus.

An old temple of Lord Shiva. Beautiful stone carved pillers is must place to visit. Small pond and three other temples around Mandir. A stone carved Zopala (cot like structure) is amazing. Also the Rath which is entirely wooden is multistory. It is used on day three of Shivratri every ear when the idol of god is placed on ratha and three Pradakshina around Mandir are completed. Its pulled by thousands of pilgrims who pull the huge rope tied to ratha. Its a big event must attend

‘Shri Dev Rameshwar Panchayat’ Akeri, Tal. Spade.Six km from Sawantwadi on Mumbai-Goa highway. Akeri is a scenic village in the distance and the road leading to Mangaon Shivapur passes through this village. Adjacent to this road is one km from Akeri Bazaar. I In the distance is the ‘Shri Dev Rameshwar Panchayat’ situated in the center of the unified village of Akeri Humras. This Rameshwar temple, which is highly revered by the Bhosle family of Sawantwadi, is an amazing example of sculpture. About one hundred and fifty acres of land owned by this temple is full of agriculture and timber and is worth visiting. The temple faces east and is worth a visit. The temple faces east and the temple building generally falls into four parts. On the side of Mangaon Road, at the back of the temple, there is a magnificent temple, adjoining the inner hall, a chiseled wall, the inner roof is erected on a stone pillar, and around the linga where the idol of God is installed, a stone gabhara is built. The carvings on this nave and the stone joints are worth seeing. Such artwork is almost remote. After that, the second sabhamandap (middle sabhamandap) has been built on a stone pillar with a wooden frame. The stone pavilions in this hall are methodically arranged and large pieces of stone are joined together. The stone roof in this hall is a monolithic stone. After this, the outermost sabhamandap is a high square stone pillar with a wooden frame and the roof is made of this stone pillar. Overall, the construction of this temple is of Shiva period and it is estimated that it should be of Hemand sect. The construction of the temple seems to have been done in three phases. Because the small temples along with the temple seem to have penetrated into the main temple building itself, it seems that Rameshwars temple was completed in three phases. There is a lamp post in front of this temple and the number 1756 is seen on it. This is an important question. There is a strong lake next to this temple and this lake was renovated by the congregations in Humras in 1997 and lighting has been provided on it. The temple of Dalvi Purvasa is in the same area and it has also been renovated this year. The inner core of the temple is made entirely of stone and the building is erected on fine stone pillars. Stone chowrangs, monolithic stone benches and stone ballads in the outer halls are the special features of the temple and the magnificent carvings on the stone in the temple are eye-catching. 10 to 15 feet magnificent divine pillars in a single stone. The craftsmanship on it is quite worth seeing. Just looking at the matching work of matching joints shows that even the last five-six hundred years ago there were more advanced skilled craftsmen and their technology than now. Even todays advanced sculptures can be seen in this place.Information courtesy: Vijay Sawant
