This fort located in Ajmer was built by Akbar in 1570.2. This fort is also known as Akbars Daulatkhana or Magazine.3. Situated in the middle of the city of Ajmer, this Paschimukhkila was completed in three years.4. This fort built by Hindu-Muslim method was built by Akbar to show respect to Khwaja Muinuddin Hasan Chishti.5. It is considered to be the only fort of Rajasthan made of Muslim fortification system.6. In 1576, the plan of Haldighati war against Maharana Pratap was also finalized in this fort.7. Whenever Akbar came to Ajmer, he stayed in this fort.8. Mughal emperor Jahangir came to Ajmer on 18 November 1613 to subdue Mewar by defeating Maharana Amar Singh of Udaipur and stayed in this fort for three years.9. The main gate of the fort is also known as the Jahangiri Darwaza. During his stay in Ajmer, Jahangir used to sit in the jharokha located at this door every day and give justice to the public.10. During this time, Sir Tomas Roe, the ambassador of the British Emperor James I, met Jahangir on 10 January 1616 in this fort. Sir Tomas Rowe presented his identity card to Jahangir in front of this window and obtained permission for the East India Company to do business in India.11. In 1801, the British took possession of this fort and made it their arsenal (magazine), hence it is called magazine fort.12. Beautiful plush painting in the fort and mosaic work in the walls of the bedrooms have been done in a very artful manner.13. Presently the state museum is located here
