Peaceful Place , Jama Masjid, the principle place of prayers for Muslims was built during Ahmed Shah’s reign in the 15th century. It was supposedly the largest mosque in the Indian subcontinent. The mosque was constructed as part of a larger design of the city. It lies south of the processional axis that runs from the Maidan-i Shah with three arches called Teen Darwaza in the old city. Ahmed Shah, his son, and grandson have mausoleums west of the mosque. A short walk away lies Rani no Hajiro, the tombstones of queens and wives of the dynasty.Nice architecture , best to visit in evening!

Jama masjid is surrounded by crowded noisy market. As soon as you enter the mosque you can feel the fresh air refreshing your mind and purifying your soul. This old masjid is so beautiful. Worth visiting.Its deep inside the old city and one has to surpass heavy traffic to reach this beautiful holy place.

This place is not accessible by car! The historic mosque with its large and impressive court is really nice. There are always friendly people to show you around (though their English might be very limited). Unfortunately this place it is not very photogenic.

No matter how much crowd and noise is there outside. Once you step inside mosque its pin drop silence. Soulful place. Its huge, clean and perfect place to find yourself in peace. What an architect and his skills. So many pillars but each has different carving. People who work there are so friendly. No doubt why India is called country with great history and also no doubt why Ahmedabad has given Heritage city title. I would love to go there as many times as I can. You should visit it once in your lifetime.

Built in 1424 in Indo-Saracenic style, the sprawling Jumma Masjid was the largest mosque in Indian subcontinent during its period.It is a wonderful art of architecture, a place to simply sit peacefully away from the hustle-bustle of the bazaar outside. Its in the old city so if you are planning to visit, park your vehicle a kilometre away and walk through the bazaar - you will enjoy that.

Great experience visiting this place. Really magnificent. But the street on which it is located is always crowded. Try going in the afternoon when it is not crowded.
