An amazing fort with much history. To begin with, the slanting entrance to cause hindrance to possible attackers, the two rounds of moats surrounding the fort of which one housed crocodiles and the other had tigers for its protection are defence mechanisms that worked. Agra Fort is a great place. The architecture is beautiful and it is definitely worth the stop. The only downside is that to enter, you have to pay two seperate entrance fees. While not that expensive, if you dont know that and only book tickets online, they turn you away to go pay the other fee. So know that in advance. Also, now during the pandemic, the cash windows are closed. So you have to pay the second free from a website. The site would not take our US card. We had to use an Indian Card. Your mileage may vary.

Agra Fort : World Heritage Monument. An architectural masterpiece, The Red Fort of Agra. One of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is the perfect example of Mughal art and architecture, built purely out of red sandstone. Some part of the Agra Fort is used by the Indian Army is off-limit to public access. View of Yamuna River and Taj Mahal from the forts pavilions is mind-stirring.Situated on the site of earlier fortifications, it lies on the right bank of the Yamuna River and is connected to another of Agra’s renowned monuments, the Taj Mahal (downstream, around a bend in the Yamuna), by a swath of parkland and gardens.one of the greatest Mughal Emperors. There is an interesting legend associated with the architecture of the Agra Fort. It is said that the royal rooms of the fort were built in such a way that they would remain cool even during the summer. The legend has it that the walls were made hollow and then filled with water from the river, so that they would remain cool.OVERALL, such a Beautiful FORT in india 🇮🇳

Obviously nice place to visit. Its a fort of Mughal time period. But unfortunately its not well maintained. Needs more care and proper maintenance and make more attractive.Agra fort is spread over an area of about 94 acres and over 20 protected monuments are situated inside its premises. British troops were stationed there and the Indian Army took over after independence.Agra Fort was declared a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO.Travelling through India and going back to her history is the one of the best achievements in life. The architecture is amazing like the other famous structures we have here in India, but I have came to know that only 30% of this fort is open to public, rest is closed and under the control of India Army.

A historical place, the fort was the residence of one of the longest ruling dynasties in India - The Great Mughals for over 300 years. The fort was first built by a great Sikarwar Rajput king - Raja Badal Singh and was known as Badalgarh. Then came the Lodhis and then the Mughals. The fort was expanded and renovated during every rulers reign and as a result is the second largest fort of India and probably the only fort which has seen the most rulers. The sadest part being the ruler who has lived here the longest and expanded the fort most - Shahjahan, was made a prisoner by his own son Aurangzeb in this fort only for over 8 years and died in a silent and lonely death. The fort is also famous for its Mughal architecture, stone carvings and great marble inlay work with valuable stones, gems.Hiring a local government approved guide is highly recomended to learn about the rich legacy of the fort.

This historic site piqued my interest, and I was excited to see it. Only one-third of the area is open to tourists, while the other two-thirds is used by the Indian Army. However, that is a huge area in and of itself. It is preferable to bring water with you while entering this fort. I purchased a 35 INR online ticket and was requested to pay a maintenance fee of 10 INR upon entry, but I did not receive a receipt. Some areas in the beginning reeked and appeared to be highly unkempt. The forts overall view was satisfactory.

Another Mughal splendor. I personally feel, it is historically more significant than Taj Mahal (In Agra). Though only 25% of the fort is open for general public (rest is under Indian Army), it still gives you glipmse of how grand the structure is.Tip:You need to have guide if you really want to understand the monument. Govt rates for guides are appx Rs.1000. Agra Fort is a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO. This fort is located in the city of Agra in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The world famous monument Taj Mahal is present only about 2.5 kilometers north-west of it. Some historians consider this fort to be better to call the palace city surrounded by walls. It is the most important fort of India. Indias Mughal emperor Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb used to live here, and from here used to rule the whole of India. Here the state had the highest treasury, property and mint. Foreign ambassadors, travelers and high-ranking people used to visit here, who created the history of India. We can see the Taj Mahal well from here, the view of the Taj Mahal looks very attractive when viewed from it. The most important thing here is that many squirrels are found on it, which make the mind fickle.
